Pizza Bombs

Pizza Bombs: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

I really enjoyed making these pizza bombs. They were not hard to make, just a little time consuming, but so worth it.

Pizza Bombs: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Instead of having the dough on the bottom and the toppings on top. All of the toppings are stuffed inside of the pizza dough and served with additional pizza sauce for dipping. Just a fun way to enjoy pizza.

Pizza Bombs

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pizza dough, at room temperature
  • 6 teaspoons pizza sauce, plus more for serving
  • 24 slices pepperoni
  • 6 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 12 cubes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Directions:

  1. Move oven rack to the middle of the oven and preheat the oven to 375º F. Spray a regular muffin tin with cooking spray.
  2. Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal pieces, about 1 1/4 ounces per piece.
  3. Working with one piece at a time, roll the dough into a ball and then flatten and stretch the dough with your hands into a 3-4 inch circle. Repeat with the remaining dough pieces.
  4. Place 1/2 teaspoon of pizza sauce into the center of each dough circle, do not spread the sauce. Place a piece of cheese on top of the sauce followed by 2 slices of pepperoni. Fold the edges of the dough up around the filling and then pinch them together.
  5. In a small bowl stir together the butter and garlic.
  6. Dip the stuffed dough balls into the melted butter, turning to completely coat in butter. Place the dough balls, seam side down, into the wells of the muffin tins.
  7. Sprinkle the top of each dough balls with 1/4 teaspoon parmesan cheese and a pinch of Italian seasoning.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove the muffin tin from the oven and allow the pizza bombs to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes or until cool enough to handle.
  10. Serve the pizza bombs with warm pizza sauce.
Enjoy!!!

Notes:
I used this homemade pizza dough and halved the recipe.
