I have made plenty of homemade pizza doughs over the years but have never found "the one". That is until now.
This dough is easy to work with and makes a great pizza crust.
Pizza Dough
Ingredients:
- 2 cups warm water (about 120º F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 6 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- In a glass measuring cup, stir together the water, yeast and sugar.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook attached, add in the flour, oil and salt.
- Pour the water mixture over top and knead until a soft dough forms and is slightly tacky when touched, but does not stick to your fingers.
- Remove the dough from the bowl and place on a lightly floured surface.
- Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and roll into balls.
- Place the dough balls on a greased baking sheet and cover with a damp towel.
- If using the dough the same day allow to rise at room temperature for 2-3 hours. If using the dough the next day, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and allow to rise until ready to use the next day.
- Preheat oven to 425º F.
- When the dough is ready, flatten or press it out into about a 14 inch circle.
- Place the dough on a lightly greased pizza pan or a pizza peel with cornmeal.
- Add desired sauce and toppings.
- Bake for 20-22 minutes or until the cheese is melted and crust is browned to your liking.
