My kids and I love tacos, so finding new ways to incorporate the flavors of tacos is something I enjoy. This dish takes our love of tater tots and combines it with our love of tacos. Plus it is so easy to add your favorite taco toppings.
Tater Tot Crust Taco Pizza
Ingredients:
- 30 ounces tater tot crowns
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/3 cup diced tomtoes
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons taco sauce
Toppings
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup crushed Doritos
- 1/3 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 425º F. Spray a 12 inch oven safe skillet with cooking spray.
- Line the bottom and sides of the skillet with tater tots.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in another skillet, over medium-high heat, cook the ground turkey until completely cooked and crumbled. Drain any fat.
- Add in the water, diced tomatoes, taco seasoning and minced onions.
- Stir everything together and cook until thickened about 3-4 minutes.
- When the tater tots are done, flatten the tops and sides with the bottom of a cup.
- Sprinkle the bottom tater tots with 1 cup shredded cheese and then spread the meat mixture on top, followed by the remaining 1 cup shredded cheese.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and top with the shredded lettuce, crushed Doritios, diced tomatoes and shredded cheese.
Notes:
I used my Homemade Taco Seasoning in this dish.
I added sliced black olives with the other toppings and topped each serving with sour cream and salsa.
