Homemade Taco Seasoning

Homemade Taco Seasoning

I have started making my own taco seasoning recently for several reason. The main reason being the package kind has way too much sodium in it and my husband is on a low sodium diet. So in order to still be able to make dishes with taco seasoning in it I researched and tried several recipes for a homemade version.

I have found that the homemade version is not only better for you, but it tastes better. The recipe you find below is the one I like the best and tweaked to my family's liking and needs.

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.
Enjoy!!!

Notes:
Use all of the above mix in place of packaged mix in any recipe.

If you want to use the above mix to make taco meat this recipe will work for 1 pound of meat. Add 2/3 cup water to already cooked meat and add in above mix and combine all together. Bring to a boil and then simmer for about 5 minutes stir occasionally.
