Café Con Leche (Spanish Latte)

I have made iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk and it is one of my favorites. I have never tried it in hot coffee, but if it is so good in iced, how could it not be good in hot. Well, let me answer that question for you, it is delicious and makes for a creamy coffee.

This coffee also calls for scalded milk instead of steamed milk like a latte. Scalding milk reduces some of the sweetness in the milk, and how traditional Cafe Con Leche is made.

Café Con Leche (Spanish Latte)

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 8 ounces strong brewed coffee

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, over medium heat, add the milk. Heat the milk, but do not let it boil, swirling the pan every 15 seconds to prevent it from burning on the bottom of the pan. Remove the pan from the heat when the milk reaches 181ºF.
  2. Meanwhile, add the sweetened condensed milk to a mug and pour the hot coffee over top. Stir until the milk is melted and completely mixed with the coffee.
  3. Once the milk is done, pour it into the mug.
Enjoy!!!
