The word divine fits these breadsticks perfectly! They are completely and totally divine, they are deliciously delightful.
My whole family ate two of them at meal time, leaving only four left. I had to make sure everyone knew they only got one the following day. Maybe I should double the recipe next time so we have for than four leftover.
Besides the breadsticks being pillowy soft, they are easy to make. They only need one round of rising and for only 30 minutes and a 10 minute rest period.
Divine Breadsticks
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- grated parmesan cheese
Directions:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, with dough hook attached, add in the water, yeast, sugar, flour and salt. Mix until combine and then knead for 3 minutes. Remove the dough from the dough hook and let the dough stand for 10 minutes.
- In a microwave safe, long shallow dish, melt the butter. Stir in the garlic powder.
- On a clean, lightly greased counter, roll the dough out into approximately a 9x13 inch rectangle. Cut the dough into 12 strips.
- Working with one strip at a time, roll it into the butter mixture. Fold the dough strip in half and holding it in the middle twist the two sides together, pulling down slightly as you twist. Place on a baking sheet and repeat with the remaining dough strips.
- Sprinkle the breadsticks with desired amount of grated parmesan cheese. Cover the baking sheet with a clean towel and allow to rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375º F.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
Enjoy!!!
Notes:
For a little saltiness use garlic salt instead of garlic powder. I use the powder to keep the sodium level down.
