This burger could not be any easier. They maybe a little messy, but they are so delicious for such a simple burger. The burger patty itself is mixed with cheese and seasonings, then topped with some more cheese and marinara sauce.
Italian Burger
Ingredients:
- 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
- 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine half of the cheese, about 1/2 cup, Worcestershire, garlic powder, black pepper, dried onions and oregano. Add in the ground turkey and mix until combined. Shape into four patties.
- Cook the burgers your preferred way, over medium heat about 3-4 minutes per side. About 1-2 minutes before the burgers are done sprinkle with the remaining cheese, cover and cook for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Butter the inside of each bun and place butter side down and cook until lightly golden brown. Remove the buns and place the burger patties on the bottom bun. Top the burger with marinara sauce and place the top half of the bun on.
Enjoy!!!
Notes:
I cooked the burgers in an electric skillet, you can use a grill or skillet on the stove top.
