I haven’t made a homemade pizza in awhile. I need to start making them more often again, because they are so delicious and the topping combinations are just about endless and cheaper than takeout.
The real star of this pizza is the Doritos on top. The crunch of the Doritos with the rest of the toppings give this pizza such good flavor. You can use whatever flavor Doritos you would like, I used nacho cheese, because that is the one flavor my whole family likes. Something to keep in mind with the Doritos, if you think you will have leftover pizza, you may want to add the crushed Doritos to individual servings otherwise the Doritos will get soft in the refrigerator.
Taco Pizzas
Ingredients:
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1 cup salsa
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup drained black beans
- 1/2 pound seasoned taco meat
- 2 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
Toppings:
- 1 1/2 cups shredded lettuce
- 2 roma tomatoes, diced
- 1 cup crushed Doritos
Directions:
- With a pizza stone in the oven preheat the oven to 475º F.
- Roll out the pizza dough to desired thickness and transfer to a pizza paddle, dusted with cornmeal.
- Spread the salsa over top of the dough, leaving about a 1/4 inch border around the edge of the dough.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top of the salsa followed by the beans, taco meat and finally cheddar cheese.
- Using the pizza paddle transfer the pizza to the pizza stone in the preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bottom of the crust is golden brown.
- Using the pizza paddle, remove the pizza from the oven. Sprinkle the lettuce, tomatoes and crushed Doritos on top. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes:
I used ground turkey seasoned with taco seasoning.
If you do not have a pizza paddle and stone, you can use a pizza pan or a baking sheet.
