Cinnamon Roll Waffles

Cinnamon Roll Waffles: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Mmm, all the deliciousness of a cinnamon roll without all of the work. These waffles tasted just like a cinnamon roll. A prefect buttermilk waffle with a crispy outside and light on the inside is topped with the cinnamon filling and cream cheese frosting of a cinnamon roll.

Cinnamon Roll Waffles

Ingredients:

Buttermilk Waffles

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Topping

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Cinnamon Topping

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

Buttermilk Waffles

  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda.
  3. Add in the eggs, buttermilk, oil and vanilla. Whisk just until combined.
  4. Pour the batter into waffle iron and cook according to manufacturers' directions.

Cream Cheese Topping

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the butter and cream cheese for 30 seconds, stir. if not completely melted and mixed heat for 30 more seconds and stir until well combined.
  2. Whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  3. Drizzle over the waffles.

Cinnamon Topping

  1. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Drizzle over waffles.

Notes:
I used a Belgium waffle maker and got 5 waffles.
