Sausage and pepperoni pizza is nothing new, but the addition of the ricotta adds another cheese flavor and creaminess to an already delicious pizza.
Sausage, Ricotta, Pepperoni Pizza
Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 8 ounces sweet Italian sausage (about 3 links), casings removed
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 450ºF (or whatever temperature your dough calls for). Lightly coat a baking sheet or pizza pan with 2 tablespoon olive oil, if you are using a pizza stone skip this step.
- Heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the Italian sausage and cook until browned, crumbling it as it cooks. Drain and excess fat and set aside.
- Roll out the pizza dough into approximately a 13 inch circle. Transfer to prepared baking sheet or pizza pan if using. Spread the pizza sauce on the dough to about 1/2 inch from the edge. Sprinkle with the shredded mozzarella. Then top with the sausage, pepperoni and dollops of ricotta cheese.
- Bake for 12-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheeses have melted.
