Hissy Fit Dip

Hissy Fit Dip: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

This Hissy Fit Dip is all across the internet. If you google the name many different sites will pop up. The most common story behind the name of this dip is that it was served at a football party and a girl or as some sites say a southern belle, threw a "hissy fit" because she did not get any. I do not know how true this story is, but it does show how delicious this dip is.

Hissy Fit Dip: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Hissy Fit Dip

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound bulk breakfast sausage
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 8 ounces Colby cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces Muenster cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried ground sage

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350º F. Spray a 9x9 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet, over medium heat, cook the sausage, crumbling it as it cooks, until it is completely cooked. Remove the sausage using a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel lined plate. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sausage, sour cream, cream cheese, Colby cheese, Muenster cheese, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder and dried ground sage. Stir until everything is well mixed. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  4. Bake for 1 hour, or until golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm with tortilla chips or crackers.
Enjoy!!!

Notes:
The original recipe called for 8 ounces Velveeta, since I do not use Velveeta I substituted it with Colby cheese.
