After realizing I had never posted a recipe for a simple chocolate ice cream, let alone made one (you can read more about that here). I knew that I had never posted the recipe I use for my vanilla ice cream. So here is your plain and simple, basic vanilla ice cream recipe, perfect for shakes, or eating in a bowl with toppings.
Simple Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 1 cup half and half
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Place freezer safe container for storing the ice cream in the freezer.
- In a medium bowl whisk together the half and half and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
- Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla.
- Pour the mixture into your ice cream machine and churn according to manufacturer's directions.
- Take the storage container out of the freezer and transfer ice cream into it. Cover and freeze.
