A simple yet delicious pasta dish. This pasta only requires a handful of ingredients, but it turns out so creamy and yummy. It makes a great meatless dish or perfect side dish. I served it as a side dish and that is how I calculated the serving size and nutritional information.
Pasta with Marinara Cream Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 30 ounces marinara sauce
- black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 1/2 pounds fettuccine noodles
Directions:
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and reserve 1 cup pasta water.
- In a large saucepan, over medium heat, melt the butter and heat the olive oil. Add in the garlic and onions and sauté for about 1 minute.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, black pepper, and sugar. Reduce heat to low and cook for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the heavy cream.
- Stir in the cheese and then the pasta. If the sauce is too thick for your taste add a little bit of reserved pasta water to thin it out.
Notes:
I used my homemade Crock Pot Marinara Sauce to help reduce the amount of sodium in this dish.
