Simple Lasagna

This recipe is for a basic lasagna. No frills, no extras, just a simple basic lasagna. But that does not mean it's not good. Sometimes we just need a basic and simple recipe, like this one.

Simple Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 5 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 15 ounces part skim ricotta cheese
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 12 lasagna noodles, uncooked

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F.
  2. In a large skillet cook ground turkey until completely cooked.
  3. Add in spaghetti sauce and add water to empty sauce jar, cover and shake well. Add to skillet and stir to mix.
  4. In a medium bowl mix together the ricotta cheese, 1 1/4 cups mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, parsley and egg until well blended.
  5. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
  6. Lay down 3 lasagna noodles, top with 1/3 of the cheese mixture and 1 1/4 cups meat sauce. Repeat layers two more times.
  7. Top with remaining 3 noodles and the rest of the meat sauce.
  8. Sprinkle with remaining 1 1/4 cups mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover tightly with foil sprayed with cooking spray, so cheese does not stick.
  10. Bake for 45 minutes or until cooked through.
  11. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until bubbling.
  12. Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
Enjoy!!!
