This recipe is for a basic lasagna. No frills, no extras, just a simple basic lasagna. But that does not mean it's not good. Sometimes we just need a basic and simple recipe, like this one.
Simple Lasagna
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 5 cups spaghetti sauce
- 1 cup water
- 15 ounces part skim ricotta cheese
- 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, divided
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 12 lasagna noodles, uncooked
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350º F.
- In a large skillet cook ground turkey until completely cooked.
- Add in spaghetti sauce and add water to empty sauce jar, cover and shake well. Add to skillet and stir to mix.
- In a medium bowl mix together the ricotta cheese, 1 1/4 cups mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, parsley and egg until well blended.
- Spread 1 cup of meat sauce into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
- Lay down 3 lasagna noodles, top with 1/3 of the cheese mixture and 1 1/4 cups meat sauce. Repeat layers two more times.
- Top with remaining 3 noodles and the rest of the meat sauce.
- Sprinkle with remaining 1 1/4 cups mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
- Cover tightly with foil sprayed with cooking spray, so cheese does not stick.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until cooked through.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until bubbling.
- Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
