Chorizo Chili

Chorizo Chili: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

I was looking forward to a nice hearty and spicy chili. It was definitely hearty, but not as spicy as I was hoping. It was flavorful and of course delicious, but I was really missing the spiciness I thought the chorizo would bring. Next time I will try using more chorizo and less ground turkey or maybe use all chorizo and no turkey.

Chorizo Chili: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Chorizo Chili

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 8 ounces ground chorizo
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 15 ounce can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 14 ounce can fire roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, over medium heat, cook the ground turkey until completely cooked. Add in the chorizo and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add in the onion and garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes or until they have started to soften.
  3. Add in all of the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  4. Reduce the heat to a simmer and allow to simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occassionally.
Enjoy!!!
