I am not sure if I should call these a snack or a treat. The Cheerios and peanut butter make them feel like a snack, but the dark chocolate makes them feel like a treat. Whatever you decide to call them, they are delicious and easy to make.
No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios Cups
Ingredients:
Chocolate Cherrios
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups Cheerios
Peanut Butter Cherrios
- 3/4 cup peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups Cheerios
Directions:
- Spray a 12 cup muffin tin well with cooking spray and set aside.
- Place the dark chocolate and unsalted butter into a heat proof bowl. Place the bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure that water does not touch the bowl. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted, smooth and mixed with the butter. Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the Cheerios. Stir until the Cheerios are well coated in the chocolate. Set aside.
- Add the peanut butter, honey and butter into a heat proof bowl. Place the bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure that water does not touch the bowl. Stir until the peanut butter butter is completely melted, smooth and mixed with the butter and honey. Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the Cheerios. Stir until the Cheerios are well coated in the peanut butter. Set aside.
- Allow both mixtures to cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.
- Once the mixtures reach room temperature, drop a spoonful of chocolate Cheerios and peanut butter Cheerios into the prepared muffin tin cups. Continue until all of the Cheerios mixtures are in the muffin cups. Tap the pan onto the counter to help the mixture set.
- Place the muffin tin into the refrigerator or freezer until firm.
- Using a knife, run it between the muffin cup and Cheerios and remove the Cheerios cups. Place the Cheerios cups into an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator.
