I don't know about you, but this french toast looks impressive to me. I'm sure anyone who cooks or bakes has discovered that some recipes look better than others. It is said we eat with our eyes first and I know I have made some recipes that don't look the best but taste delicious. Well this recipe is both, looks amazing and tastes amazing.
Strawberries and Cream Cheese French Toast
Ingredients:
- 16 ounce loaf brioche bread, cubed
- 8 ounces cream cheese, cubed
- 1 pound strawberries, diced and divided
- 12 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups half and half
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Directions:
- Lightly spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Place an even layer of cubed bread into the baking dish. Top with the cubed cream cheese and half of the strawberries in an even layer. Top with the remaining cubed bread in an even layer completely covering the filling.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, half and half, maple syrup and vanilla extract. Pour evenly over the bread cubes. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight or at least 2 hours.
- Remove the baking dish from the refrigerator and let stand for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350º F.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes. Uncover the baking dish and continue to bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and center is firm.
- Sprinkle the remaining strawberries on top and dust with powdered sugar.
