I love a good Italian sandwich. Italian meats, like pepperoni, salami and capocollo paired with Italian provolone cheese make for a delicious hand held sandwich.
You can always substitute or add any other Italian meats you enjoy, like, sopressata or prosciutto. For the Hawaiian rolls, I buy mine at Costco so, I have 16 in a pack, but this recipe will work with a pack of 12 as well.
Italian Slider Sandwiches
Ingredients:
- 16 Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 16 slices capocollo
- 16 slices salami
- 16 sandwich pepperoni
- sliced pepperoncini
- 10 slices provolone cheese
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Directions:
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls intact. Place the bottom half of the rolls into 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, garlic, basil and oregano. Spread desired amount onto the bottom half of the rolls.
- Layer the capocollo, salami and pepperoni onto the rolls, followed by desired amount of pepperoncini. Place the cheese on top, followed by the top half of the rolls.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder. Brush over top of the rolls.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and let sit for 10 minutes,
- Preheat the oven to 350º F.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Remove the foil and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until the tops are slightly browned.
Enjoy!!!
