Crock Pot Italian Meatball Subs

Crock Pot Italian Meatball Subs: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Crock pot meals make my life so much easier, especially now that my girls are older. I can either have the crock pot meal ready and have them put in on when they get home from school or even have them prepare the meal and put it on.

When serving this meal I completely forgot to add the cheese to subs and broil them, but that's okay, because my family still loved these subs. Plus, this gives me a reason to make them again sooner than later to add the cheese and give the buns a little toasting.

Crock Pot Italian Meatball Subs

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces frozen Italian meatballs
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 15 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup diced yellow onions
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • sub rolls
  • shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:

  1. In a crock pot, add in the oil, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, onions, water, garlic, Italian seasoning, black pepper and sugar. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Add in the meatballs and cover with sauce.
  3. Place the lid on the crock pot and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours or until the sauce is bubbling and the meatballs are heated through.
  4. Place desired number of meatballs into sub rolls and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and place under the broiler for 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and roll is toasted. Watch carefully so it doesn’t burn.
Enjoy!!!

Notes:
Depending on how big your meatballs are and how many you put in a sandwich, you may get more or less than 6 sandwiches.
