Asian Ground Turkey Rice Bowls: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

I do not know what is is a bout rice bowls, but I am loving them. I do not know if it is eating my dinner in a bowl that appeals to me or that they are always so flavorful? But I am drawn to rice bowls.

This rice bowl is like all the others I've had. It doesn’t lack in flavor. It's no surprise I loved the flavor of this bowl since it is a little spicy.

Asian Ground Turkey Rice Bowls

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste

For Serving

  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste
  • 3 cups cooked rice
  • carrots, finely sliced
  • pickled jalapeños 

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet, over high heat, heat the oil. Add in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add in the ground turkey and cook for 5 minutes breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Stir in the ginger, sugar, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and chili paste. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the turkey is completely cooked, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  3. In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauce, brown sugar and chili paste. Set aside.
  4. Divide the rice between 4 bowls and top each bowl with 1/4 of the ground turkey, desired amount of carrots and pickled jalapeños. Drizzle some sauce over top of each bowl.
