Eggnog Pull Apart Bread

Egg Nog Pull Apart Bread: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

I've always been intrigued by pull apart breads, but since they always use canned biscuit dough and I prefer homemade, I have never made one. Sometimes I think about working out a recipe for a homemade dough, but never get around to it. Well, now I do not need to worry about it. This dough worked perfectly in this pull apart bread.

This pull apart bread has egg nog in the bread and glaze for the perfect egg nog flavor. Just a warning, this bread is delicious and addicting. I kept telling myself that I needed to stop eating the bread and yet I kept on eating it. Eating it warm out of the oven with the soft dough and glaze with the perfect amount of sweetness was hard to resist.

Eggnog Pull Apart Bread

Ingredients:

Dough

  • 1 cup warm eggnog
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons rapid rise yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 1/2 - 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Coating

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons egg nog

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the warm eggnog, yeast and sugar. Let sit for 10-15 minutes or until it starts to foam.
  2. Sir in the egg, oil, 1 1/4 cups flour and salt. Slowly stir in 1/4 cup at a time until the dough gets smooth, but still tacky.
  3. Place the dough into a bowl that has been well sprayed with cooking spray, turning the dough over once. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and allow to rise for 1-2 hours or until the dough has doubled in size.
  4. Spray a 9-inch cake pan with cooking spray.
  5. Punch down the dough and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Place the melted butter into a shallow bowl and in another shallow bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  7. Dip each piece of dough into the melted butter, turning to coat, then place into the sugar mixture again turning to coat and then place into the prepared cake pan. Allow the dough to rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350º F.
  9. After the dough has risen bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges and top are browned.
  10. Run a knife along the edge of the bread and then carefully remove the bread from the pan and place on a plate.
  11. In a small bowl whisk together the powdered sugar and egg nog until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bread and serve.
Enjoy!!!
