What can make creamy, cheesy macaroni and cheese better? Doritos, Doritos can make macaroni and cheese better. The flavor and the crunch of the Doritos make this macaroni and cheese absolutely delicious. I used nacho cheese Doritos, but you can use other flavors, I think a spicy Dorito would taste great with this macaroni and cheese and I will definitely be trying that next time.
Doritos Macaroni and Cheese with Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 3 cups elbow noodles
- 10.75 ounce can cream of chicken soup
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon black pepepr
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 2 cups crushed Doritos
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375º F. Spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a large pot, over medium-high heat, melt the butter.
- Whisks in the flour and whisk constantly for 3 minutes.
- Slowly add in the milk while whisking constantly.
- Stir in the pasta and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring often.
- Cover the pot and allow the pasta to boil for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir the pasta very well.
- Add in the cream of chicken soup, shredded chicken, cream cheese, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Stir until everything is well mixed and cream cheese is melted.
- Stir in 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the top of the pasta with the crushed Doritos and then the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes or until the cheese on top is completely melted
