Cappuccino Chip Ice Cream

Cappuccino Chip Ice Cream: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

My oldest daughter suggest I made a cappuccino chip ice cream. I did not have any recipes for that so I figured I would make a coffee ice cream and add mini chocolate chips. The result was a delicious ice cream that tasted like coffee with crunchy chocolate chips. Most importantly my daughter loved it and wants me to keep the recipe and make it again.

Cappuccino Chip Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup half and half
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons espresso powder
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2-3/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Place freezer safe container, for storing the ice cream, in the freezer.
  2. In a large bowl combine the half and half, sugar and espresso powder. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's directions.
  5. During the last five minutes of churn time, add in the chocolate chips.
  6. Remove storage container from freezer and transfer ice cream into it. Put lid on and freeze.
Enjoy!!!

Notes:
Depending on how much coffee flavor you want the ice cream to have, depends on how much espresso powder you add. I used 3 tablespoons and it had a nice coffee flavor.

I used 1/2 cup chocolate chips, but might use more next time. I felt there was not quite enough, although others who tried the ice cream said it had plenty.
