I needed a hot fudge sauce for an ice cream cake (check back tomorrow for that recipe) and decided I wanted to make a homemade one. This recipe is pretty simple and makes a really delicious hot fudge sauce.
Hot Fudge Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder and granulated sugar.
- Whisk in the heavy cream.
- Turn the heat on to medium and whisk constantly until the mixture starts to warm up.
- Add in the butter and stir until completely melted and combined.
- Allow the mixture to heat until nice and hot, stirring often.
- Once the mixture is nice and hot add in the vanilla and stir to combine.
- Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a sealable container and store in the refrigerator.
- The fudge sauce will become solid as it cools.
- To serve the sauce, scoop out the amount you need and place in a microwave safe bowl.
- Heat for 20 seconds, stir and then heat for another 10 seconds or until the sauce is warm.
Enjoy!!!
