Smoked Sausage Alfredo Pasta

Smoked Sausage Alfredo Pasta: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Sausage, noodles, Alfredo sauce and cheese make a great combination. A creamy, cheesy and totally delicious combination.

Smoked Sausage Alfredo Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces capatavi pasta
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 12 ounces smoked sausage, sliced into 1/4 inch thick slices

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350º F. Lightly spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Cook the pasta according to the package directions and drain
  3. While the pasta is cooking, in large skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter.
  4. Add in the garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Stir in the flour and cook for1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth until smooth and well blended.
  7. Slowly whisk in the half and half.
  8. Season with black pepper and cayenne pepper.
  9. Simmer until the sauce has thickened, stirring often, about 5 minutes.
  10. Stir in the parmesan cheese and 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Stir until both cheeses are melted and sauce is smooth.
  11. Add the sliced sausage and cooked and drained pasta to the sauce.Stir to mix well.
  12. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  13. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese.
  14. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese melts and starts to brown.
