Sausage, noodles, Alfredo sauce and cheese make a great combination. A creamy, cheesy and totally delicious combination.
Smoked Sausage Alfredo Pasta
Ingredients:
- 16 ounces capatavi pasta
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1 cup low sodium chicken broth
- 2 cups half and half
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 12 ounces smoked sausage, sliced into 1/4 inch thick slices
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350º F. Lightly spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Cook the pasta according to the package directions and drain
- While the pasta is cooking, in large skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add in the garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in the flour and cook for1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Slowly whisk in the chicken broth until smooth and well blended.
- Slowly whisk in the half and half.
- Season with black pepper and cayenne pepper.
- Simmer until the sauce has thickened, stirring often, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the parmesan cheese and 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Stir until both cheeses are melted and sauce is smooth.
- Add the sliced sausage and cooked and drained pasta to the sauce.Stir to mix well.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese melts and starts to brown.
