If you have ever had a real deal cannoli made by real Italians, then no other cannoli will ever compare. Growing up there was this little Italian store that carried real Italian foods, both prepackaged and homemade. They had the best tasting fresh provolone cheese and the most amazing cannoli's I have ever had.
Since then I have had many cannoli's, but none have ever compared and this dip is no exception. I am not going to lie to you and say this tastes just like the filling of a cannoli. But it does taste good, just not as good as a real deal cannoli filling. With that being said, I would totally make this dip again. It was quick and easy and a good treat.
Cannoli Dip
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup mini chocolate chips
- waffle cones or bowls, broken up
- In a medium bowl whisk together the ricotta cheese, cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla extract until well mixed.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
- Serve with the waffle cone or bowl pieces.
Notes:
I used waffle cones and broke them into pieces for dipping, however the waffle cones were difficult to to break apart without little pieces. I feel that a waffle bowl, if you can find then, would be easier to break apart without little pieces.
