Eggnog syrup is a glorious thing. It is the perfect compliment to eggnog french toast. I can not imagine eating this french toast with "plain" syrup.
Eggnog French Toast with Eggnog Syrup
Ingredients:
Eggnog French Toast
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup eggnog
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 12 slices Texas toast
Eggnog Syrup
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup eggnog
Directions:
Eggnog French Toast
- In a large shallow bowl whisk together eggs, eggnog, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Preheat griddle and spray with cooking spray.
- Place bread into egg mixture and let sit for a few seconds. Flip bread over and allow other side to sit in egg mixture for a few seconds.
- Place bread on hot griddle and cook until lightly browned. Flip bread and cook on the other side until lightly browned.
- Serve with eggnog syrup.
Eggnog Syrup
- In a medium saucepan, over medium low heat, melt butter.
- Mix in sugar until well combined.
- Mix in eggnog and then bring up to medium high heat. Whisk constantly until mixture comes to a boil.
- Remove from heat and serve over french toast.
