Honey Chipotle Chicken Tenders

Honey Chipotle Chicken Tenders: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

The sauce is what makes these chicken strips amazing. Without the sauce you would have your typical panko breaded chicken strips. But with the sauce you a super delicious sweet and spicy chicken strip.

Honey Chipotle Chicken Tenders

Ingredients:

Chicken Tenders

  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • Honey Chipotle Sauce

    • 1/3 cup honey
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 teaspoons chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
    • hot sauce hot sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/4 cup ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
    • 1/3 cup cold water
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

    Directions:

    1. Preheat oven to 400º F. Pour melted butter onto a large baking sheet with sides and coat entire baking sheet with the butter.
    2. Cut chicken breasts into strips, trying to keep them similar in size.
    3. In a bowl whisk together the flour and black pepper. In another bowl place the bread crumbs. In a third bowl add the eggs and whisk lightly.
    4. Place chicken strips into the flour and coat both sides. Then dip chicken strips into the egg and coat both sides. Lastly place chicken strips into the panko and coat both sides well. Place coated chicken strips onto prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
    5. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Flip chicken strips over and bake for an additional 8 minutes or until completely cooked.
    6. While chicken strips are baking prepare the Honey Chipotle Sauce, by adding the honey, granulated sugar, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, ketchup and white vinegar to a large sauce pan.
    7. Whisk ingredients over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, whisking the entire time.
    8. In a small bowl combine the water and cornstarch.
    9. When the Honey Chipotle Sauce reaches a gently boil, add in the water mixture and stir until the sauce thickens. Reduce the heat to low.
    10. When the chicken strips are cooked coat them well in the Honey Chipotle Sauce.
