We all have those days when we need and want something comforting for dinner. When you combine chili, cheese and tater tots into a casserole you create that comforting dinner. And of course it taste delicious.
Chili Cheese Tater Tot Casserole
Ingredients:
- 32 ounces tater tots
- 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
- medium onion, chopped black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 14.5 ounce can no salt added diced tomatoes
- 15 ounce can low sodium kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 8 ounces no salt added tomato sauce
- 8 ounces water
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400º F.
- Place tater tots into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes or until tater tots are crispy.
- Meanwhile, in a medium pot, over medium heat, cook ground turkey and season with black pepper. Cook until turkey is completely cooked, drain if needed.
- To the cooked ground turkey add the Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cumin, diced tomatoes, kidney beans and tomato sauce.
- Fill the empty tomato sauce can with water and add to the pot. Stir to combine and bring mixture to a boil.
- Once mixture reaches a boil, reduce heat to medium low and simmer until chili reaches your desired consistency.
- When the tater tots are done, pour chili over top and then sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and everything is heated through.
