These breadsticks are buttery, soft, and delicious with a hint of garlic flavor. And that makes it very hard to just eat one!
Breadsticks
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm water
- 3 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer add in all of the ingredients, except for the garlic butter ingredients.
- Turn mixer on low and mix for about 5 minutes or until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.
- Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead two to three times.
- Pat dough into a ball shape. Cover dough with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until dough has doubled in size.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out into a 12x10 inch rectangle.
- Cut into 24 breadsticks, a pizza cutter works well for this.
- Transfer bread stick to a greased baking sheet. Cover with same towel and let rise for 1/2 an hour or until slightly puffed.
- Bake at 350º F for 14-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a shallow dish combine the melted butter and garlic powder.
- Dip the top of each breadsticks in the garlic butter.
