This is your basic mashed potato recipe, nothing fancy, nothing special, just basic mashed potatoes that are perfect for gravy. Even though we all need a good basic mashed potato recipe in our collection, there is more to this post than just the recipe. I am going to share with you a neat trick for peeling the potatoes.
Awhile back I saw a video on a trick for peeling potatoes and was amazed., but also skeptical. I figured with all of the work I was going to be doing preparing the Thanksgiving meal why not try it out and see if it works. Guess what... it works!
To preform the peeling potatoes trick, take your potato and score all the way around the middle. You just need to cut through the skin and make sure you start and stop at the same point. Basically creating a complete circle. Now you cook the potatoes, with the skin on. Once the potatoes are done, dunk them in a bowl of ice water. Once the potato is just cool enough to handle grab it on either side of the scoring circle you made and pull the peel off. Seriously, it is so easy
