French Toast Sausage Roll-Ups: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Cooked sausage rolled up in bread and then cooked like regular french toast. But best of all you can eat them with your hands and dip them in syrup.

French Toast Sausage Roll-Ups

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 breakfast sausage links
  • 8-10 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • splash vanilla extract
  • 1-2 teaspoons unsalted butter
  • maple syrup

Directions:

  1. Cook the sausage according to the package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, trim the crust from the bread slices and flatten them out with your hands or a rolling pin.
  3. In a shallow bowl whisk together the eggs, milk cinnamon and vanilla.
  4. Roll each sausage in one piece of bread.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add one or two teaspoons of butter.
  6. Dunk each sausage roll into the egg mixture coating completely. Let the excess drip off and then place in the pan seam side down. When the bottom side has browned turn to cook and brown all sides.
  7. Serve with maple syrup.
