Caramel Latte

Caramel Latte: Savory Sweet and Satisfying



I have several caramel flavored coffee drinks on this blog. But this one intrigued because there is absolutely no caramel in it, it is made with butterscotch chips. Surprisingly it gives the latte a caramel taste to it. I tasted a very subtle butterscotch flavor along with the caramel flavor, but they may be because I knew there was butterscotch chips in it.

Now that I have a bag of butterscotch chips I see myself making this latte again very soon! Well as soon as I get more evaporated milk.

Caramel Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups strong hot coffee
  • 12 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cups butterscotch chips

Directions:

  1. Brew the coffee.
  2. While the coffee is brewing, combine the evaporated milk and butterscotch chips in a medium saucepan.
  3. Stir constantly over medium low heat, until the chips have melted and are combined with the milk.
  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the hot coffee.
  5. If you want the latte to have some foam on top, transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until it creates foam.
  6. Pour into mugs and serve.
