Spicy and Sweet Dr. Pepper Chili

Man oh man is this chili spicy! Spicy enough to clear your sinuses, make your nose run and your mouth burn. But not so spicy that you lose all the flavor of the chili and it sure does have a lot of flavor!

The spiciness of the chili is offset by the sweetness of the Dr. Pepper. I never would of thought adding pop to chili would taste good, but it does, it really does.

My husband and I though this chili was a great combination of spicy and sweet. However, not everybody like things as spicy as we do. So if you would like to reduce the amount of heat do not add the whole can of chipotle peppers.
Spicy and Sweet Dr. Pepper Chili

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 tablespoon cumin
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2- 28 ounce cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1- 14 ounce can low sodium kidney beans
  • 12 ounce can Dr. Pepper
  • 7 ounce can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely diced
