These breadsticks are buttery, soft, and delicious with a hint of garlic flavor. And that makes it very hard to just eat one!

1 cup warm water
3 teaspoons yeast
2 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
1 egg
3 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Garlic Butter
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon garlic powder

In the bowl of a stand mixer add in all of the ingredients, except for the garlic butter ingredients. Turn mixer on low and mix for about 5 minutes or until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.

Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead two to three times. Pat dough into a ball shape. Cover dough with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until dough has doubled in size. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out into a 12x10 inch rectangle. Cut into 24 breadsticks, a pizza cutter works well for this.

Transfer bread stick to a greased baking sheet. Cover with same towel and let rise for 1/2 an hour or until slightly puffed. Bake at 350ยบ F for 14-18 minutes or until golden brown.

In a shallow dish combine the melted butter and garlic powder. Dip the top of each breadsticks in the garlic butter.
