Breadsticks

These breadsticks are buttery, soft, and delicious with a hint of garlic flavor. And that makes it very hard to just eat one!

Breadsticks

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer add in all of the ingredients, except for the garlic butter ingredients.
  2. Turn mixer on low and mix for about 5 minutes or until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.
  3. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead two to three times.
  4. Pat dough into a ball shape. Cover dough with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until dough has doubled in size.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out into a 12x10 inch rectangle.
  6. Cut into 24 breadsticks, a pizza cutter works well for this.
  7. Transfer bread stick to a greased baking sheet. Cover with same towel and let rise for 1/2 an hour or until slightly puffed.
  8. Bake at 350º F for 14-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. In a shallow dish combine the melted butter and garlic powder.
  10. Dip the top of each breadsticks in the garlic butter.
Enjoy!!!
