I have made my fair share of sloppy joes. I have even made a barbecue one and one with some chorizo. However, I have never made one with Italian sausage and now I feel the need to make more with Italian sausage since it was so good. Barbecue Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1/2 yellow onion, diced
- 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
- 6 hamburger buns
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup sliced dill pickles
Directions:
- In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, cooke the sausage and onion until the sausage is crumbled and completely cooked. Drain and grease.
- Add in about 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce and heat through.
- Meanwhile, open the hamburger buns and place them on a baking sheet. Spread the butter on the inside of each side of the buns. Broil for 1-2 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Top the bottom half of each bun with meat mixture and top with crumbled bacon and pickle slices.
Enjoy!!!
