Everything Bagel Macaroni and Cheese

Everything Bagel Macaroni and Cheese: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

I'm sure you have heard the saying "Everything tastes better with bacon". Well, I'm beginning to think that about everything bagel seasoning. Over the past few years I have become a real fan of the seasoning and looking for recipes to use it in. Recently, I've even been sprinkling it on my veggies.

Everything Bagel Macaroni and Cheese: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

This mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy and full of flavor thanks to the everything bagel seasoning.

Everything Bagel Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups uncooked elbow noodles
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups half and half
  • 12 ounces sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, cubed

Everything Bagel Topping:

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup panko
  • 2-3 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning

Directions:

  1. Cook the noodles according to the package directions and drain well. Return the noodles to the pot and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Once the butter has melted whisk in the flour, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper. Whisk constantly until the mixture turns golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Slowly whisk in the half and half. Continue to whisk constantly until the mixture comes to a gently boil and is beginning to thicken, about 5 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and add in the shredded white cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Stir until the cheeses are completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Pour the cheese sauce over the noodles and stir until well mixed.
  7. Transfer the macaroni and cheese to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  8. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, panko and everything bagel seasoning.
  9. Turn the oven to broil.
  10. Sprinkle the topping over the macaroni and cheese and place the baking dish under the broiler for 1-2 minutes or until the panko gets lightly toasted. Watch carefully as it can burn quickly.
Enjoy!!!
