Apple Chai Oatmeal

Apple Chai Oatmeal: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

I have a love hate relationship with chai tea. I do not like tea, but I really like chai tea latte's. I have tried various chai tea recipes and non of them have tasted good, that is until now. This oatmeal had the right amount of spices to taste like chai tea, without being too overpowering. 

Apple Chai Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1-2 tablespoons applesauce

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl whisk together the clove, cardamon, allspice, cinnamon and ginger.
  2. In a small saucepan, add in the milk and 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of the chai mix. Heat over high heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture starts to boil.
  3. Once the mixture starts to boil, reduce the heat to medium-high and stir in the oats. Cook, stirring often, until the oatmeal thickens and oats are soft, about 5-8 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl and top with applesauce.
