Holiday Oatmeal

Holiday Oatmeal: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Normally when I make oatmeal, it is one of two ways. It is either in the microwave and I am making it for just one person or I make baked oatmeal for the whole family. After making this oatmeal on the stove top and tasing how creamy it turned out I determined that I need to make oatmeal on the stove top more often, I loved how creamy it is.

Holiday Oatmeal

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 apple, diced small, about 1 cup
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 medium banana, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
Directions:
  1. In a medium pot, over medium heat, stir together the oats, milk, diced apples, cranberries and pecans.
  2. Cook stirring often until the oatmeal has thickened, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the bananas.
  4. Divide the oatmeal between 3 bowls and top each bowl with 1 tablespoon brown sugar.
Enjoy!!!
