I recently realized I did not have a basic Belgium waffle recipe. It is good to have a collection of basic recipes from which you can create other recipes from. In fact, I used this basic waffle recipe to create Peanut Butter Banana and Jelly Waffles, which I will be posting sometime next week.
These waffles have the perfect crispy outside and fluffy inside, just like a Belgium waffle should be.
Homemade Belgium Waffles
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat the waffle iron and spray with cooking spray if you need to.
- In large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar and baking powder.
- In medium bowl, beat the eggs with a mixer until light and fluffy and pale in color.
- Whisk the vanilla into the eggs.
- Whisk the egg mixture into the dry ingredients.
- Add in the milk and butter, whisking just until everything is combined.
- Let the batter sit for 5 minutes before adding to the waffle maker.
- Pour the the amount of batter recommenced but the manufactures directions into the hot waffle maker and cook until golden brown.
Notes:
I was able to get 5 Belgium waffles out of this recipe.
