Oh my goodness, Kahlua and coffee in an ice cream is so amazingly delicious. One taste of this ice cream and I knew I had a recipe that I needed to keep.
Kahlua and coffee pair so well together and in a creamy ice cream and it becomes the most delicious adult dessert. I can see myself whipping up this ice cream anytime I have half and half and heavy cream to use up.
Kahlua Coffee Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 1 cup half and half
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons espresso powder
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup Kahlua
Directions:
- Place freezer safe container for storing the ice cream in the freezer.
- In a medium bowl whisk together the half and half, sugar and espresso powder until the sugar and espresso powder dissolves.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Kahlua.
- Pour the mixture into your ice cream machine and churn according to manufacturer's directions.
- Take the storage container out of the freezer and transfer ice cream into it. Cover and freeze.
Notes:
This ice cream is softer and melts a little bit quicker than most because of the added alcohol.
can i leave out the kahlua? also i just have instant coffee , can i sub for the espresso powder?
ReplyDeleteI use 2 packets of Starbucks Via coffee crystals, 1/4 cup of Kahului and reduce the heavy cream to 1 3/4 cup but still use 1 cup of half and half…better consistency and very enjoyable!
