I don't know where this recipe came from. My mom had a recipe card that was probably cut out of a magazine, but it had nothing on it that let me know where it came from so I can give proper credit. But this pie was too good and too easy not to share.
Rich, creamy and chocolatey mousse in a pie is a delicious way to enjoy pie and mousse at the same time.
Chocolate Mousse Pie
Ingredients:
- 1-7 ounce chocolate bar
- 16 large marshmallows
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 9-inch graham cracker crust
- sweetened whipped cream, optional
Directions:
- In a medium pot, add in the candy bar, marshmallows and milk.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate and marshmallows are melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Allow the mixture to cool.
- Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture and pour into the crust.
- Refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
- If desired, pipe additional sweetened whipped cream around the edge of the pie before serving.
Notes:
You can substitute 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows for the 16 large marshmallows.
