Tuna macaroni salad is a classic dish. Most people make it with their own preferences and tastes in mind, this is my version. I like plenty of tuna fish in my salad as well as dill pickle relish not sweet. I also like a mixture of mayonnaise and miracle whip. I prefer miracle whip over mayonnaise and that is what I use in my tuna salad, but for this salad I like the mixture of the two.
Tuna Macaroni Salad
Ingredients:
- 16 ounces elbow pasta
- 4 hard boiled eggs, peeled and finely chopped
- 14 ounces canned tuna, drained
- 1/2 cup finely diced red onion
- 1/2 cup finely diced celery
- 3/4 cup dill pickle relish
- 1/2-1 cup miracle whip
- 1/-1 cup mayonnaise
- black pepper, to taste
Directions:
- Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water. Transfer the pasta to a large bowl.
- Add the hard boiled eggs, tuna, red onion, celery and relish to the pasta and stir to mix.
- Add in 1/2 cup miracle whip, 1/2 cup mayonnaise and black pepper, mix well until everything is coated.
- Refrigerate until well chilled.
- Mixed well before serving. If pasta is too dry add in equal amounts of miracle whip and mayonnaise until desired consistency is reached.
