Crock Pot Bolognese Sauce

Crock Pot Bolognese Sauce: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

As my family and I were eating this sauce my husband was suggesting changes, like not so thick, less meat, more sauce. He liked the sauce just thought those changes would make it better.

That got me thinking, what is Bolognese Sauce? What my husband was describing was like a spaghetti sauce and before I change this sauce I needed to know what it is suppose to be. After a quick internet search, in short a Bolognese Sauce is a thick meat sauce for pasta.

So how the sauce turned out, is exactly how it is suppose to be. I will not be making changes, since the sauce is delicious, easy to make, thick and full of meat like a Bolognese sauce should be.

Crock Pot Bolognese Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3- 14 ounce cans diced tomatoes
  • 2- 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 2- 6 ounce cans tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet cook the ground turkey until completely cooked and crumbled.
  2. Transfer the ground turkey to a crock pot and add in all of the remaining ingredients. Stir everything together.
  3. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 8 hours.
  4. Serve sauce over pasta.
Enjoy!!!
