Texas Roadhouse Rolls Copycat

Texas Roadhouse Rolls: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

I can't say that I have ever eaten at a Texas Roadhouse. But I sure have heard a fair amount about the rolls they serve there. So when I came across a recipe I thought I would make them to see what all the fuss is about.

The rolls puff up quite a bit in the oven and are super fluffy with a buttery taste to them. I can see why there is such a fuss over these rolls.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all purpose flour, divided
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Directions:

  1. Spray a large mixing bowl with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the yeast and water and stir to mix. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes or until the yeast starts to foam.
  3. Attach the paddle attachment to the mixer and turn on low speed.
  4. With the mixer running, slowly add in the milk, butter and sugar. Continue to mix on low speed until well mixed.
  5. With the mixer still running, slowly add in 1 1/2 cups flour and continue to mix until well mixed.
  6. Add in the egg, garlic powder and salt. Mix until well combined.
  7. Remove the paddle attachment and place on the dough hook.
  8. Turn the mixer onto medium-low speed and gradually add the remaining flour. Continue to knead the dough until it starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  9. Transfer the dough to the prepared mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
  10. Allow to rise until doubled in size, about 1- 1 1/2 hours.
  11. Line two baking sheets with either parchment paper or silpats.
  12. Uncover the bowl and punch the dough down.
  13. Transfer the dough to a floured work surface.
  14. Roll the dough out into a rectangle that is 1/2 inch thick.
  15. Using a pizza wheel, cut the dough into 18 equal pieces.
  16. Place the dough pieces on the prepared baking sheet 2 inches apart.
  17. Cover the baking sheets with clean kitchen towels and all ow rise until doubled in size, about 1- 1/2 hours.
  18. Preheat the oven to 350º F.
  19. Bake the rolls for 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  20. Remove the baking sheets from the oven and immediately brush the tops of the rolls with the melted butter.
Enjoy!!!
