Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Waffles

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Waffles: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Quick cook oats are mixed in the waffle batter to create a hearty and filling waffle. Chocolate chips are added for a bit of sweetness. It is like a oatmeal chocolate cookie in waffle form.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Waffles

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup quick cook oats
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's directions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, baking powder and cinnamon. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil and brown sugar.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not over mix.
  5. Pour the amount of batter needed for the waffle maker, according to the manufacturer's directions and cook according to the directions.

Notes:
The number of waffles will vary depending on the type of waffle maker you use. I used a Belgium waffle maker and got 4 waffles.
