For my oldest daughters birthday day she requested plain pancakes. She did not want anything in them, just plain old pancakes with maple cream for putting on top. That request made me realized I did not have a recipe for plain pancakes. So here is a recipe for basic pancakes that you add any toppings of your choice to.
Basic Pancakes
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
Directions:
- Heat a griddle over medium-low heat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and sugar.
- In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Then stir in the melted and cooled butter.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry and gently stir, just until everything is incorporated, lumps are okay.
- Grease your griddle.
- Using a 1/4 cup, scoop the batter onto the hot griddle. Cook until the bottoms are golden brown and bubbles rise to the top of the pancakes, about 2-4 minutes.
- Flip pancakes over and cook until the bottoms are golden brown.
