A flavorful dish with a nice creamy cheese sauce. It is like a mac and cheese with ham and tomatoes.
Cheddar Ham Pasta
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces rotini pasta
- 1- 14 1/2 ounce can diced tomatoes with garlic and onion
- milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 cups diced cooked ham
Directions:
- Cook pasta according to package directions and drain.
- Drain tomatoes, saving the liquid. Add enough milk to the tomato liquid to make 2 cups all together.
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Stir in flour and basil and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.
- Stir in milk mixture and cook until thickened, about 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Add in cheese and stir until it melts.
- Stir in tomatoes, ham and pasta, cooking until completely heated.
