Puffy Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast

Puffy Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

Texas toast is filled with strawberry cream cheese, dipped in pancake mix and then cooked on a griddle. It is kind of like french toast meets pancakes with a delicious strawberry cream cheese filling.

Puffy Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf Texas toast
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • small pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat a griddle to 375º F.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, and granulated sugar. Drizzle in the melted butter and whisk until evenly incorporated. Pour in the milk and stir to mix. Add the eggs in one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the ground cinnamon and vanilla extract.
  3. Divide the cream cheese between 6 slices of bread. Top each slice of bread with another slice making a cream cheese sandwich.
  4. Dip the sandwiches into the batter, flipping to coat both sides and place on the preheated griddle. Cook for 3-8 minutes, depending on how brown you like your french toast. Flip the sandwiches over and cook on the other side for 3-8 minutes, again depending on how brown you like your french toast.
  5. Top the french toast sandwiches with powdered sugar.
Enjoy!!!

Notes:
If you have leftover batter, dip the leftover bread pieces in it and cook on the griddle.
