Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies: Savory Sweet and Satisfying

A delicious oatmeal chocolate chip cookie gets a new delicious flavor added, cherry. Adding some chopped maraschino cherries to an already delicious cookie makes them even better. I do not think I want a plain chocolate chip oatmeal cookie anymore, only a cherry chocolate chip cookie.

Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cherry juice, from the jar of maraschino cherries
  • 2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1- 10 ounce jar maraschino cherries, drained (but save the juice) and diced

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375º F.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer cream together the butter and both sugars until well mixed.
  3. Add in the egg and cherry juice and mix until well mixed.
  4. In a large bowl whisk together the cornstarch, baking soda, flour and oats.
  5. With the mixer running slowly add in the flour to the creamed butter.
  6. Add in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries. Mix with a spoon not the mixer, just until evenly incorporated.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or a measuring spoon, scoop out the dough and roll into 36 dough balls. Place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 9 minutes.
  8. Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the cookies rest on the hot baking sheet for 2 minutes, then remove the cookies to a cooling rack and let cool completely.
Enjoy!!!

Yields: 36 cookies
